The fourth Quarter Finals of the World Cup 2015 was played between New Zealand and West Indies. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first in a good pitch to bat. The start was good for the West Indies as they took the precious wicket of the New Zealand captain for 12 runs. He scored it with a four and a six. Then the Ne Zealand players started to play a slow and steady cricket match by having some good partnerships ine the middle. Then they started to shift gears after the 35th overs and belted the ball all over the ground. Opener Guptill just showed his class by playing a great innings of 237 runs off 163 balls to keep the West Indies bowlers to think of bowling and how would they restrict the batsman. Ross Taylor from the other hand played a supporting innings of 41 runs off 61 with two fours. They ended the innings at 393/6 from their 50 overs.
Chasing a target of 394 runs to win the match, opener Charles lost his wicket early in the innings of the bowling of Boult. He just showed why he is one of the best bowlers of the side. HE picked four West Indian wicket and the big wicket was Samuels who was hitting it hard and getting runs easily. He was out after scoring quickfire 27 runs from 15 balls. From the other end Gayle was slow to start , but then shifted the gears by hitting sixers more than fours. He smashed 8 big sixers and 2 fours to score a 33 ball 61 before he was bowled by A Milne. There was no big partnerships in the middle overs, but there were many boundaries hit by the West Indian batsmen who were all out for 250 runs in 30.3 overs. This would have been a tight match if they had wickets in hand. Finally they lost the match by 143 runs to help the New Zealand team to reach the semi-finals playing against the South Africans on the 24th March 2015. Both New Zealand and South Africa have not entered the finals before and will be looking for the first appearance in the finals.
